Lil fella is sick

My poor boy. He came home with a slight fever after school yesterday. He was rather quiet, and that made PoPo a bit nervous. Knowing her grandson's antics, he is very seldom that quiet. PoPo made him milk and he just took a few sips and was wanting to fall asleep. Then PoPo realised he had a slight fever.

Turned on Disney Channel 613 for him. Usually his face will lit up and he'll be jumping and running, doing whatever's on TV, but tonight, he was like .. no facial expression at all leh. So pity leh see his face like that.

Hope you feel better soon Bryan.

Bryan's Room

2 weeks ago, hubby decided that we should get Bryan his own bed. A normal sized single bed and not just a kiddy bed. So off we went to Ikea (where else!) to scout for one. We liked this particular one we choose as it fitted the needs of the room. It has 3 sides covered up which works perfect. A mattress from Dunlopillo and a bedsheet from Parkson, and it was all ready for his use!

To complete the look of his room, I had earlier ordered some really super-cute wall decals from Jundeco! When I first bought them, I was wondering if they would be easy to use and apply on walls. But on the day I started pasting them on, I tell ya, it was super easy. And it looks really cool. Bryan loves his room alot! Even I love it. Its my favourite room in the entire home!

Here are some pictures to share.

Did I tell you that Bryan is crazy over flowers and butterflies??? It's crazy. Every single night and every single time he gets hold of a pen or pencil, he will ask the one nearest to him, to draw flowers and butterflies! And one session can end up making you draw at least 10-20 butterflies ok! So I decided to give him lots of flowers and butterflies in his room! The curtain supplier thought that I am decorating the room for my daughter .. hehehe. Nevermind. I am wondering if he will turn out to be a gay .. but again ... nevermind. I heard gays are much more caring and have higher disposable income!!!! And again, I dont have to deal with all those daughter-in-law issues .. wakkakakakaa! Tell me I am thinking too far ahead.

Some social life

Hardly had it since Bryan came along. I cant put into words how active and curious he is at ALL things. Like I have said before, even walking is not in his dictionary. Only jumping or requesting to be carried around like a royal highness!

At home, the things that he does or does not do, makes me so tired. I really dont know how to describe his terrible-2 stage. Terrfying-3 stage is beginning. I mean, since he was born, he wakes up twice a night for milk, another one or two sessions of nyek nyek nyek and its time for me to get up for work. So I look very much like an Ah Soh now, after 2.5 years.

Nevertheless, one evening Mom decided not to cook since Sis wont be back for dinner. And she being alone, does not make sense to cook. So decided to take her out for a meal at a nearby newly opened western food restaurant. Bryan enjoyed his time running around every where. If you dont stop him, he will already be in the kitchen just 2 mins after we enter the restaurant.

Anyway, just some blaberring from me in this post. Feel tired even by just thinking about him. Hahahaha.

Fungates - the right choice?

Last Saturday, 2 Fungates operators hosted "Open Day" at their centre. We took Bryan there for a visit and to see if he liked the environment there.

When we first arrived at Centre A, he saw quite a few people and immediately turned to me and asked me to carry him. But the moment I told and showed him the room which was filled with lots and lots of colorful books, arts & crafts, learning apparatus, etc, he forgot about us. He was in his own world. Running up and down the entire class, fascinated by so many things that he gets to touch and mess up! He kinda got excited that even the washing area was so low (child's height) that he could easily turn the tap on & off as he pleased! *pengsan*.

Hubby checked on the rates and other information while I monitored my dear boy. I cannot leave him out of our sight cos the whole centre would have *terbalik* if I turn my back for 5 seconds!

Not very impressed by the look, quality of the english spoken by the centre staff and the location of the centre (it was inside an intermediate shoplot with no playground or space to run about) - but 5 mins from our new home, we headed to Centre B.

Centre B was a total opposite. It was housed in a HUGE bungalow and had good English speaking staff and teachers. They also conversed in Mandarin but it will only be taught in Year 4. The only drawback for us is the distance from our new place.

Again, Bryan was all over the place. The teachers here knew better how to interact with the kids ( managed to get his attention on one particular activity which he followed accordingly but we could see clearly that he was the "tai kor" amongs the others *double pengsan* trying to dominate - almost snatch the apparatus from the teacher!)

Both the centres told us that they would start with teaching the kids basics (of course lar, what else right) like recognizing ABCs and 1-10 ... but Bryan already kn0ws all that. On good mood days, he can count till 30! Both in English & Mandarin!

He can spell all the words he sees on the billboards on our way home each night! He reads out all the alphabets he seens in the newspapers or those that are printed on my T-shirt! I am getting worried that he will be bored in a Year 3 class .. but we still will have to start him there.

I wish to check out Montessori next but there is none near my place. It has to be a bus journey of about 30 mins at least each way! So, what shall I do? Compromise on education system or compromise on this travel time? I think he is too young to travel so far everyday.

Safety Gate for Bryan

We hoped over to Babyland @ SS2 to check out some safety gates. Lindam's was going at RM50 off, so it only cost RM149.90 for a basic unit instead of the usual RM199.90. We had to add on an extension to make it up to 110cm in width cos my staircase is pretty wide.

If I really want to be extra safe, I need 4 sets of these cos I have stairs that are going both upstairs and downstairs.

We have also decided to add clear polycarbonate sheets to my staircase railings, so that my "hero" wont have any opportunity to put his foot on those railings and try to be super or spideyman!

He is in the "jumping" phase now. Jump from bed to the floor, jump from one chair to another, jump from first staircase to the next and all the way down to the last staircase. Jump even when walking. Meaning he does not walk step by step. He jumps step by step. *pening*

Langkawi Moments

Lots of hesitations before we decided to finally go ahead with this trip. Mostly, our worry about A(H1N1). But we took precautions and prayed for the best.

Sharing with you some pics below.

First things first, upon check-in, little boss check out his bed .. accompanied by his ever-faithful portable DVD player. This one sure cannot miss one. Every where we go, must bring it along, else all of us sure pengsan!

After that, sure must be pool-time! Eh, sorry ar, little boss still scared of the big big ocean, so no go near there. Just the baby-pool saja.

Then its time to head to town. The only place that is worth visiting is the Oriental Village which houses the cable-car station. Its totally worth every single cent that you pay! The ride is so cool and the view even better! But, be prepared for some physical exercise ... cos you need to walk down from the station to the viewing deck (which is the easy part), then walk back up to the station (which will get you breathing heavy!!)

We did very little shopping. But we bought lots of chocolates! And a few bottles of wine for my mom's upcoming 60th birthday dinner.

It was a very simple, kinda relaxing and smooth holiday. Of course, my mom, hubby and myself were very tired having to carry his royal highness everywhere cos he refuse to walk, but then, he behaved quite well during the trip. So we are quite happy it turned out good.

I even had a surprise birthday cake presented to my by the hotel! And for the first time, my son could sing "Happy birthday to Mommie" ... it melted my heart . Hehehe.

I am also happy that I have the chance to finally bring my mom for a short holiday. We have been planning a trip since my boy turned 1, but unfortunately, we just could not make it. He was such a handful when he was younger (he still is!) and I felt stressed having to handle a kid who does not sit or walk (just jumps & runs). At least now, he can walk (if he wants to!) and can eat anything we adults eat. He also understands so much more and can communicate esp when he wants shi shi or pot pot. So that makes travelling a whole lots easier.

I just want to thank my MOM for sacrificing not only her golden years, but also her health, to ever willing to help me take care of my son. He is no easy toddler. And it has taken so much out of her to take care of him 12 hrs a day while we are both at work. And now with the house renovation, she has even helped me take care of him every Saturday. I really cant thank her enough other than being a filial daughter to her. I love you mom.

His first visit to ....

...tit tar!

One morning, Mom realised that he was limping a bit and refused to walk. And cried everytime he had to walk. We thot it was normal lah, cos seriously, thesedays, he only wants to be carried everywhere - even in the house!

Later in the day, after his afternoon nap, he was happily walking - but with a slight limp. We reached home after work and immediately spotted his limp when he came over to the door to greet us. I immediately decided to take him to a "tit-tar" to check it out.

Sure enough, he sprained his ankle a little - must be all the jumping about he does every single day. Like I said before, my dear son never walks or sits. He only runs or jumps :-)

He did cry a bit. Sure pain one mah right? But after they "pau" his ankle area, he was jumping about again ... seriously! Boys will be boys I guess.

Prince's New Playground

Within our gated community, we have a small playground for the residents. Nothing fancy but just the basics to keep the young ones occupied & happy.

His all-time favourite is the "shuaaaaaat" ... meaning the slide lah ... hehehe. Every time we drive past a playground, he would say "mommy, play shuaaaat" :-)

We usually spend Sunday evenings there, just to let him run about freely and perhaps in the coming weeks, we will bring along the bicycle he got as a pressie on his 2nd birthday earlier this year. He can now reach the peddles comfortably, just that we never allowed him to ride it outdoors (too dangerous lah, cars zooming in & out) and thus, he does not enjoy riding on it inside the house lor. So hopefully, he will start loving the rides all over again.I am sure he is as excited as mommy to move into our new home.

No eye see!

Hello guys! I'm back to the blogging business .. hehehe.

Oh, i feel so left out with the outside world now. Feel like so much has happened while I have been busy settling into a new routine professionally.

I have also been busy shopping for my new home. I have everything in mind and have placed some orders, so as soon as the nest is ready for moving in, the big items will come in first.

My lil prince has been busy shopping with us as well ... but I think he got sick of it!

So no more shopping for furniture, electrical items, etc. for the new few weeks. But we will have to concentrate more on smaller items, like mirrors, frames, etc.

Will blog more regularly from now on .. so lets keep each other posted!

See ya soon!

No more accidents!

Lately mommie save a lot of money and poh-poh save a lot of water! Why? Cos poh-poh managed to fully train Bryan to pee-pee and poo-poo on the potty or in the toilet.

Two or three weeks back, still got accident ... he didnt manage to tell us in time and he just stood still and "water-fall" there and then! But these days, no more accidents. If he needs to pee-pee, he will quickly run to the toilet and he will know for sure we will attend to him, help him pull down his pants to make it easier for him.

Next step is to now train him to pull down his pants on his own or teach him how to undo the zipper. But before that, I better buy him a set of mini underwear .. hehehe .. so cute those mini underwear :-)

So my 2 last packs of XXL Mamypoko will last me pretty long cos I only need one piece at night. And poh-poh these days, only wash clothes every 2-3 days ... cos not many wet or soiled pants from Bryan. And this poh-poh hand washes them ok ... dont play play.

Moreover, day time or even when we go out, he refuses to use the diapers cos I think he prefers the 'airy' feel .. wakakaka. Only last week, he helped "water" the potted plants outside Dome Cafe at Mid Valley ... hahaha. So if you see them flowering suddenly .... say thanks to Bryan .. hahahaaha!

He knows ...

... how to poo-poo on the potty! Yeah!!!!!!

I tell ya, it's a harrowing experience trying to get him to sit on the potty! He just hates it! Remember how I told you before his unique style of doing big business? That even gave him medical problems? Well I am sure glad those days are over!

2 days ago, my mom told me that he asked for the potty. He sat there for 5 minutes while watching his current favourite DVD (latest fav is Tom & Jerry lar). He managed to poo-poo a little ... which for us is such a big achievement! Mommie & Daddie clapped & clapped to show him that he has done a good job!

Yesterday, my mom said he did even better. He asked for the potty again and sat there for 10 full minutes and he managed to poo-poo a lot! Wah ... we was so happy to hear that! We clapped again to show him that he was a big boy now and can now do it correctly what he is suppose to do!

Being parents are so magical. Even shit is good news to us! I never imagined that shitty news can be such lovely news!

Sun, Sand & Sea

If I remember correctly, the last time I went to Port Dickson was about 20 years ago. Yes, that long time ago. Probably during my teenage years when I went there with mom and her family.

This time round, mom came along too, together with my aunt & my cousins who had a little boy who is the same age as Bryan. So I guess, it was a good outing for the 2 boys as well as long as they dont fight over toys! Bryan used to be the agressive one and would often just pull away whatever toy his lil cousin would be holding on to, but this trip, both of them were very fren-fren. A bit more grown up kua now since both are 2 yrs old already.

I am getting abit worried after this outing. Simply because my son refuses to step on the sand or the sea barefoot! Nope! Not even on the grass! He was clinging so tight to anyone who would be willing to carry him. There was no way to make him even try stepping on them. He would scream his lungs out!

Coming to think of it, we hardly ever allow them to be bare-footed if we were to be out of the house right? So probably he thought it was not ok for him to be bare-footed other than inside our home.

I think I have to work on this issue a bit more. Else, how on earth is he going to really enjoy his childhood days right? Playing computer games? No way!

As expected our beach was not in the cleanest state. So no swimming for any of us. Just laid our mat under the tree and maybe tried a couple of times to bring Bryan out to the seaside just to try to get his feet wet .. but it did not work. He was screaming! Even his favourite past-time of picking up stones also did not attract him enough to get him down on his feet. Just clung on to us like a koala. Sigh ...

Saw a few Malay kids happily enjoying themselves in the sea. They just dont seem to be afraid and jump up & down in the water. There was a toddler (probably abt a year old only) who was walking right into the sea (with his mom lar of course) and here I have mine who refuses to even allow us to carry him & walk close to the sea. Alamak!

Can you see his worried face in the pics below? And note the colour of our sea.

I told daddie we should plan for more short trips since the fart is a little more settled in the car.

Perhaps to Cameron Highland next?

Big TV Small TV

See! Like father like son! Daddie watching on the cabinet-top TV and his son watching using his portable DVD player which we placed next to the TV.

My hubby always "complain" that our son looks and behaves more like his mommie ... but he didnt know that his son has "inherited" the daddie's gila-TV talent!

As for daddie, so long as got some pictures moving on the TV, he can watch without blinking an eye. Advertisement ka, cartoon ka, anything! Even for those dramas on wah lai toi, he just needs to watch for 10 seconds, and he knows what is happening although he did not watch the earlier episodes! Keng leh!

As for the son, luckily he is a bit more choosier ... only watch what he is "hot" for the moment. These days it is Tom & Jerry. Earlier it was Postman Pat & Blues Clues! Baby days it was Barney just like any other kid.

As for mommie, best would be Wimbledon, US Open or like now, the Rolland Garos! Best in the world man! On non-tennis seasons ... maybe an episode of Sugar, thats all.

What about your boys? Are they tv-gila as well?

Stressful nights! Damn!

Something new from the brat these few nights. Insist that I stand up and carry him to sleep! Hello! You know how heavy this fellow is now? And not that he falls asleep easily okay! He is such a light sleeper. And he is also such a super busy body! A slightest noise, light or movement around him and he will quickly open his eyes!!!!! F%#&!

On normal days, I just have to give him some milk and bring him close to my body (his body HAS to touch my body) and after some patting of the butt, he will go to sleep. And I am doing all these while just sitting beside him on his bed. But now, cannot! Must stand up! Must carry! F%#&!

Last night, I decided NOT TO GIVE IN! I am not about to let a 2 year old dictate to me! I know, some people will say .. he is cranky cos of his minor flu lar, minor cough lar, like that one lar terrible 2 stage .. BUT did you know that he is super damn smart?? He knows how to bully people and who to bully in particular!

He fussed at about 1.50am. I assume he wanted milk cos he refused to take his milk before going to bed about 11pm. So I quickly got up to make him his milk. But then he merajuk! Dunno lah for what. Then he wanted me to carry. I know he is about to start that already. So I insisted I sit down on his bed and pat him. Woah! He cry with maximum volume and kick me several times! I terus ignore him! Dont care! Cry lah all you want! Daddie tried to carry him - but you know, our fren dont want! Push daddie away! Sampai daddie also give up! Let him go and he came running back to me! Still crying with louder volume. I dont care. You want me to pat you to bed, can but I am not going to stand up and carry you here & there and pat you like a baby!

You know what - he cried for 1.5 hrs! And in that 1.5 hrs, he tried and tried to pull both my hands one after another asking me to stand up and carry him. I still dont care! I put my hand under my thighs as tight as I could - dont let him pull it out! I did not utter a single word for the past 1.5 hrs. I AM NOT GOING TO ALLOW HIM TO WIN!!!!

Finally our fren gave up. He then asked for milk. Stopped crying. Daddie went to take the milk from the warmer. Our fren then drank it on my lap while I was still seated on his bed. He looked me in the eye. I sayang his forehead and cheeks. Seems like he understood. After minum, mabuk terus! Good morning Malaysia! Its 3.30am.

Hidden Talent!

Did you know that this mommie loves to bowl? And so does Daddie! During our pak-toh (dating) days, we used to either visit the cinema every Sat or else, we will hit the bowling alley. We used to frequent the lanes at Sunway Pyramid lar .. now dunno still that hot or not that place(?).

Over the weekend (and like many other weekends), we stopped by Jusco at MV and while mommie had to do some shopping, daddie brought the brat to the little play area inside Jusco. Remember this place?

This time, daddie noticed that there was a little bowling game suitable for the lil one. For RM1 a game, my lil brat was rolling the balls away! And this game managed to get him to stay there at one place for more than 5 minutes!!!! Hurray!!!!

Hey, not bad wor!

He scored 178!

Actually, when I saw my brat bowling away, it really reminds me of the good-ole-days of the both of us just getting to do what we want to do. It was fun and life was just so much easier and less complicated then.

However, ever since Master Bryan Low came into the picture, as you have guessed, all our time is his time now.

We have hardly the opportunity to sit down together to even discuss about the renovation plans or on what or where to buy the stuff, etc, etc. The only private time we have is 20 minutes in the morning/evening when we are in the car on our way to the office. And not on all mornings you feel like talking okay?

Daddie's favourite t/shirt!

Well .. what can I say.

Ok enough! Now, time for bed so go brush your teeth and change into your pee-jays! Not you Bryan .. I meant your Daddie!

Bath time!

What!!! Heatwave to last till September?!!! But thank god it rained these few evenings .. what a relief!

Really beh tahan this terrible weather. Sampai we mandi like a few times a day during weekends cos at home, how to turn on the air-cond full time right? Nanti end of the month bill sampai .. hubby pengsan!

I have recently allowed the lil one to some play-time during his bathing session. He loves to play in the bath-tub and all I have to do is hand him a spoon and plastic mug or plastic bottle. And some plastic toys. Most of then than not, he also loves to play with his toothbrush!

I asked my brat to smile for the camera .. and he gave me his latest pose!

I know .. I know .. mommy says this pic can see my birdie .. but aiyah, its ok lar .... if next time people can sell this pic to make good money .. why not help them right? Hee... hee..

Can you see the red bath-tub? Its actually the same bath-tub I bought for my wedding day. You know lar .. marrying a chinese/hokkien ... all also must be ang-ang one.

When I got preggie, just like any other mom, I window-shopped alot looking out for cute stuff to buy for the lil one. Then I decided that since we only occupy a room, there will not be much space for many things. Moreover, what am I going to do with this ang-ang bath-tub if I bought a new one? Sigh ... so settled to use this one lor .. until now. No regrets though. Money's worth! Another good buy!

Dining Out

I only dine out when absolutely necessary. Like when SIL comes back for a visit, a family birthday celebration, invitation from relatives for fullmoon or wedding dinners and occasionally when MIL kena number .. hee!

But every single time, no one gets to enjoy a peaceful meal. We have to take turns to carry the fart out to walk here & there. He dislikes sitting for even a few minutes. Its even worse when we have to wait for the other diners to arrive. Some people are famously known to be late! And with a brat that cannot sit still - my patience is limited! So nowadays, I intentionally go there late so that I dont have to wait so long before we can have a meal.

These days, this does the trick. But depending on his mood for the program. Usually works for 10-15 minutes. That's it. Sometimes I have to bring along the cane too!

Got future?

He looked so "pro" until his dad just stood there speechless and motionless!

It was my brat's first time visiting such places .. and he went crazy over so many choices. The thing with my brat is .. give him too many choices and he will be so distracted by all of them .. sampai he wont know what he wants .. and will be running everywhere to everything.

I really have a hard time "controlling" him everytime we go out. Be it for dinner or grocery shopping (well, that is the only 2 reasons I tag him along!) he will surely either want to run or be carried! I mean, he is 2 and averagely tall for his age, and when you carry him, its like, oh man, so big boy also wanna be carried?????

If I let go of him, he would run. Most of the time, he would swing off your hand and does not want you to hold him. Dont even have to think of this! He will not allow it on him!

If you insist, he would just sit down on the floor and once, he actually just slept on the floor - staring around at all the people walking around him in Mid Valley - he finds it cute!!!! I just let him be! I walked over and asked him (while he was still lying down flat on the floor and people were smiling & looking at us) - Bryan, why are you sleeping here? Why? Nice ar here ... you want bolster? He smiled at me.

I guess boys will be boys?
