Sun, Sand & Sea

If I remember correctly, the last time I went to Port Dickson was about 20 years ago. Yes, that long time ago. Probably during my teenage years when I went there with mom and her family.

This time round, mom came along too, together with my aunt & my cousins who had a little boy who is the same age as Bryan. So I guess, it was a good outing for the 2 boys as well as long as they dont fight over toys! Bryan used to be the agressive one and would often just pull away whatever toy his lil cousin would be holding on to, but this trip, both of them were very fren-fren. A bit more grown up kua now since both are 2 yrs old already.

I am getting abit worried after this outing. Simply because my son refuses to step on the sand or the sea barefoot! Nope! Not even on the grass! He was clinging so tight to anyone who would be willing to carry him. There was no way to make him even try stepping on them. He would scream his lungs out!

Coming to think of it, we hardly ever allow them to be bare-footed if we were to be out of the house right? So probably he thought it was not ok for him to be bare-footed other than inside our home.

I think I have to work on this issue a bit more. Else, how on earth is he going to really enjoy his childhood days right? Playing computer games? No way!

As expected our beach was not in the cleanest state. So no swimming for any of us. Just laid our mat under the tree and maybe tried a couple of times to bring Bryan out to the seaside just to try to get his feet wet .. but it did not work. He was screaming! Even his favourite past-time of picking up stones also did not attract him enough to get him down on his feet. Just clung on to us like a koala. Sigh ...

Saw a few Malay kids happily enjoying themselves in the sea. They just dont seem to be afraid and jump up & down in the water. There was a toddler (probably abt a year old only) who was walking right into the sea (with his mom lar of course) and here I have mine who refuses to even allow us to carry him & walk close to the sea. Alamak!

Can you see his worried face in the pics below? And note the colour of our sea.

I told daddie we should plan for more short trips since the fart is a little more settled in the car.

Perhaps to Cameron Highland next?

Oooh, that seems a bit extreme. My kids didn't spend much time on the beach either. After like 10 minutes, they requested for the swimming pool at yacht club. My girl also didn't like the sand much. But at least they did put their feet into the water. Yes, the dirty water. Sigh! I also didn't encourage them to swim in it.

Ahh... the beach is one place we can let our Julian roam around without having to worry about him (as much as, say, a supermarket) :o). Yes, Cameron Highlands is a good place to visit on a family holiday.

hahaha...so cute..u r right.. his face shows that he was uptight or solemn... so he was not enjoying himself during that trip? poor boy.. yes, have to expose him more to outings and bring other kids too, let him follow what his own cousins and siblings do.. maybe that will bring him back some confidence..

It's great that the 2 young boys can play together, peacefully.
U'know, my boy was the same too, afraid to step on the sand (barefooted or with slippers) the 1st time we were at the beach. Altho he likes the sea water, he wanted PaPa to carry him, refused to stand on his own. It was so funny to c him curl up his legs when we try to put him down. hehehe

dont worry abt it :) gib's pretty much the same too. didnt like the sand and all but after 3 days by the sea he took to it like fish. and i recall my eldest nephew shazwan who refused to step onto the beach for the first 4 years of his life. then suddenly ok aje. hehehe. go figure! they probably find the sand gooey and yucky!

eh i forgot to ask u... which highway did u take that took only an hour to get there..? tell tell! i'm so blurr

For better beaches, must go to the east coast i.e. Cherating or better still, the islands! The 1st time Chloe stepped on the sand, she walked with her feet turned to the sides haha, but after a few mins, ok already...

oh, when you bring him out more often, he would get used to the sand and sea. My boy also very scared of the sand and the sea. He didn't dare to play in the sea.

Hi Family First, I guess your boy will be okay give him time.
And yes, maybe he not used to being barefooted, ha ha.
I remember as a young boy, we all went barefooted as those flip flop slippers had not come out yet.
And shoes only for going to school not wearing all the time.
Love your pics.

My last trip to PD was wayyyyy back in the early '70's.
Guess it has changed a lot now as my friends tell me.
Pity the sea not so pristine as old days.
You have a great weekend, Lee.

Mine doesn't like the feeling of sand on his feet either. Maybe it's a "Bryan" thing :)

Baby C was terrified of the sea too and my 2 older gals preferred the swimming pool!

honestly kids nowadays hardly get near to the nature. So, it is good to expose them more to the nature like beaches. No swimming in the sea though coz I think is dangerous.

Cameron will be another nice place to go...
