Visiting Ikano

Our Sundays are usually spent lazing at home. Its the time to do laundry, clean the kitchen and hubs would usually be washing both cars and touching up on paint here & there. Also because we are too tired run after our hyper-fella all over, so we (actually me) prefer to just sit put at home.

However, last Sunday, we decided to drive to Ikano for a visit to Macy cos they were having a sale. Its time to get a 2nd set of curtains for the house. Those that I installed since we moved in last Nov are still hanging up there without a single wash .... Disappointed to note that mostly are only 20% discount. No not worth rushing over I guess. Didn't decide on any cos the sale will continue till Sept, the salesperson said. So ok lar, no rush. Moreover, have to come back and double confirm the measurements.

As usual, Bryan was all over the place. There were quite a number of play-stations (like pics above) at some of the corners, so that kept him busy for a while, hopping from one to another. We took him up to the pet corner .. but what a pity, the cats were not out yet. Bryan loves cats. He does not really fancy dogs or anything else .. but cats .. even if he sees them at the street corner or anywhere, he would want to run to it and touch it. Dogs - only if the dog is small in size. The bigger ones, he does not like. Smart also lar . nanti kena hentam by the big dog how .. hahahaha.

It was a short visit, lasted only 2 hrs door-to-door. And on the way back, Bryan fell asleep in the car. Continued sleeping when we reached home. And we had 2 hrs of bliss. I napped as well. The end :-)

Busy like hell!

Oh boy! Life has just taken a 180 degree turn! I have been utilising my time to the max and you know what ... it feels great to be in "action" again! I love the pace, the excitement, the pressure, the stress, the ..... i think i siow liao. Where got people like pressure one.

Well, it has been hectic both personal and professional life. And guess what! Both places needs renovation. And both place needs everything as we are starting from ZERO. And I have been shopping and shopping both for the house and new work place. Seems like everything in my life is new! Luckily hubby still old one .. hahaha.

Am I enjoying this moment? Honestly, YES! I feel so energized and hyper during the day. Feels so good maximising my brains! Feels good when you manage to solve a problem or complete a task! Just feels good!

I feel so sad that I have to abandone my blog a few days each week. I have some pics to be uploaded but just have no time for it. Moreover, I am using a temporary laptop and there is no point for me to download Picasa3 and then re-do all the downloading on my permanent PC. So I guess I will just wait for a week or two before things are more settled and feels more normal in my life.

I am so very sorry for not blog-hopping over to some of my regular favourites! I so very much miss reading all your posting but what to do .... busy as a bee wor. I promise to come over once I have the time ok? See ya soon.

I've been away ...

Sorry guys. Its been almost 2 weeks since I visited my blog. Reason being ... I have been busy with meeting up with various contractors for the house reno works and also have been out of town for some reasons.

I must say I feel much better about how my life is taking shape currently. Previously has not been too bad either but just that the things that I have planned and hoped for are now slowly coming through.

I have also planned for some professional baking & cake decoration courses in the near future, and therefore, have put in place some plans and timeline for this as well. I do hope this can be realised without much hiccups :-)

I will still update my blog and will continue to blog hop for sure! Cos how can I leave behind my good old blog-pals right?!! But please bear with me till I get into a routine. See ya again soon :-)

My visit to Q Jelly .. pretty!!!!

Last weekend, I also decided to check out Q-Jelly, the much talked-about bakery that specialises in jelly cakes. Oh my god! They are just so pretty! Especially those barbie doll cakes .. they all have such a lovely colourful jelly gown!!!!

From their display counter, I saw so many lovely jellies in such beautiful and cute designs. Hubby suggested we buy some to get a taste of their cakes. So we choose a pack of mini-animal themed jelly pieces that comes in both chocolate & strawberry flavours. Hmmm... yummy lah! But not cheap at all lah.

I went through their album to see if there is a Blue's Clues charactered jelly cake which I thought would be perfect for lil one's birthday next week. Unfortunately, they only have the rights to Disney's characters ..what a pity.
I went home thinking about jelly cakes and I was wondering how on earth people can sell such cakes for so much when the ingredients cost so little! I, therefore, tried, doing one on my own that same afternoon! With limited ingredients at home, I embarked on my jelly cake journey ... to some disappointment *sob sob*.

I must say I loved the texture of my own jelly cake attempt. Sweetness was just right and texture and "chewiness" was just right for me.

The only thing not right was it lacked the "vibrant" colors as I was too afraid they would turn out too "bright" and might look artificial if I added too much food coloring. I also did not have any milk or coconut milk to add to the "in-between" layers, so the colored layers looked as if they are all combined into one. And also, I dont have the proper moulds to mould them into cute little art pieces like the ones we bought lar. So many excuses eh?

Nevertheless, I was not demotivated. I vow to learn to make these lovely desserts to something more presentable someday! I promise!

But can someone show me a really good method to keep the remainder of the boiled jelly warm while the individual layering cools down? Should I maintain them over low heat in the pot? Waste gas wor ... Someone told me to place the boiled jelly pot into a larger pot of hot water and when the hot water cools, down replace with more hot water. But practically, I find it more troublesome since I need to boil more hot water every 10 mins or so to refill the pot right? How? How? Any easier fool proof method?

Instant points redemption @ KLCC

While running an errand at KLCC few weeks back, I bumped into Citibank's credit card points redemption counter on the ground floor. I had already had in mind what are the items I wished to redeem from our hard earned points which hubby & I accummulated for so many donkey years!

Sad to say, those items in the mailed out brochure are not available at these "express" redemption counters. Nevertheless, there are similar items in a different brand and a different amount of total points required.

I ended up redeeming 2 items which I think would be useful in my new home. A "Rowenta" tower fan and a "Thermos" portable coffee centre console consisting of a portable flask and 4 stainless steel mugs. I love the mugs. They come in super-cute size!

Coming to think of it, I think redeeming points this way is way better than the conventional way where they get their agent to process the request and then wait for it to arrive, say 2 months later, via ordinary parcel post! At least now, I get to actually see, touch and check the items before I take them home. From my own experience, I am too lazy to send back defective goods which I previously redeemed online. Feel that its a waste of time to drive to the post office or their service centre. I also dislike online shopping. I tend to feel 'cheated" cos pictures just seems so much nicer or prettier than the real thing. It's just me.

Mommie Down. Daddie Out.

Yeah, I'm still down . with flu, sorethroat and fever. But Daddie is out .. yeah, out of town .. having a good time for a week! Aaarrggggghhh!

Lil one has been much better these few days. We are still inserting anemas for him to clear his bowel. Sometimes on alternate days, to see if he can clear his bowels on his own. Laxatives are given on a daily basis to soften his stools.

He still cries and runs about until he "does" it. Although he does not cry as "torturously" as before, it still makes my heart feel achy whenever he needs to "poo". Maybe he does not like the feeling of wanting to poo, or his dislikes the "tummy ache" feeling. I really dont know. Just wished he could communicate with me better.

No long post today. Did not sleep well last night. Breathing with my mouth open. Bye.

Mommie & Daddie came tumbling after ...

Yeah, that's what happened. My lil one has yet to recover and both mommie & daddie fell ill. It was due to food poisoning and both of us had to stay up all night taking turns visiting the toilet! We were both suffering from diarrhea and were puking non-stop.

The worst part is .. my mom was also feeling ill so I did not want to trouble her to take care of lil one that Thurs night. I felt a little funny right after a light dinner at her place. An hour later, I started to get that "funny" taste of saliva in my mouth .. you know . the one that taste a little salty and you feel as if you are a little bloated and uncomfortable but the time just has not come to puke .. that kinda feeling?

When we reached home, I just dumped lil one to my SIL and ran upstairs to bring out whatever that was waiting to be brought out. But ar ... aiyoh .. both "up" and "down" also come out ... feel sooooo terrible and sick! This happened for another 5 times before it was time for lil one to go to bed. Thank god he behaved that night and went to bed not too long after I gave him some diluted milk and pat him to sleep. But it continued for me till 1am.

Then at 2am, I saw hubby going out of the room and coming back 10 minutes later - shirtless! I asked him what happened. He pulak told me he had to puke but decided to do it downstairs as he did not want to wake up the lil one at 2am. Poor hubby. We both had another round at 3am. We decided to take some chinese medication and half a glass of 100Plus, then settled for bed. We managed to sleep till 5.30am before lil one kicked up a mini-fuss. Before you know it, its time to wake up for work.

I decided to take the day off with a visit to the doctor after I catch some sleep at my mom's place. So tiring and my bones all over my body was like crushing down. Hubby managed to attend a meeting in the morning before he "surrendered" at lunch time. We both went to the doc and went home to rest. Then as usual, we headed to mom's place in the evening to pick-up the lil one. Thank god he was feeling much better by now .. but I still dont know why he still pukes in the middle of the night. During the day he seems ok.

Glad is was the weekend as we did have some time to recover and rest before starting the work week again. Even now, tummy is not feeling too good. Much better though. Hope life would be normal again soon.

Free Money!

Every 6 months or so, I get some "free money" ... from Jusco! I am sure you all know what I am talking about. It is not much, but any amount of "free money" makes you feel good indeed.
I saw the envelope for the J Card rebate vouchers on my table last night. Feeling nice .. I was wondering in my heart .. how much "free money" I would be given ... this round only RM70.

In December last year, I remember they rewarded me with RM120. So my "income" dipped by about 40%. Talking about the economy slowing down .. even this can slow down ... sigh.

A nice long weekend ...

It was a lovely long weekend away from the office and away from our daily mad rush to & from work each day. We took the opportunity to vist Sunway Pyramid for my dose of massage from Arokaya. Hubby says I am like his car .. needs "servicing" every 3 months .. hahaha. What to do .. my hip bones (or is it the nerves) hurt pretty bad these few weeks, thus, needed a massage to relieve the pain a little. It works for me.

We stopped by "I love Yoo" for a light lunch cos I was feeling a little nausea that day. Surprisingly, a lil food stall like this served real good porridge, yau char kuay, sweet potato balls and of course its yummilicious soy bean milk! My favourite - its Hainanese coffee!!!!

It was a pretty "expensive" lunch for almost RM20 for just fried finger food & soybean + porridge, but it was indeed good. You should try it. Its located just one floor above the skating ring ie same level as Pizza Hut & McDonalds. They also have a branch at The Gardens, Mid Valley. Highly recommended for a light lunch!

Clear Shoe Boxes

Remember I told you about my friends transparent shoe box purchase and I never got to get over to her place to see it? Well I spotted some at the concourse of Bangsar Shopping Centre on Christmas Eve ... and this is how they look like.

Nope did not purchase any for myself .. cos this is not a priority to me .. moreover, I hardly have more than 5 pairs of shoes at one time. Yes, its true. I am not a shoe or clothes fanatic. Dont really enjoy shopping unless I need something. Sounds like a low-maintenance woman huh? Hehehehe...not sure if hubby would agree.

Welcoming 2009!

Hello everyone! Happy New Year to all of you. I have been on leave for the past 2 weeks and just started work yesterday. First day at work was kinda ok - my "engine" started off quite easily *smile*.

For the most of the days I was on leave, I have been busy meeting up with kitchen cabinet suppliers and also window shopping around for electrical items, sofa, dining table, etc. It has been a fruitful "research" outing indeed. At least we are now more certain on where to go and which are the things we should look out for when comes the day to purchase.

One thing I did purchase at a fantastic price is my Fotile hood & hob. I have done quite a bit of research here & there and the price I got at this electrical wholesaler was just too attractive. I personally loved the owners of this outlet as well as it is managed by a hubby-wifey team and both of them were nice and friendly. Most importantly, I could see and feel they were sincere and very practical in giving us suggestions on all the items in their store. More details later.

Hubby & I also spend quite a number of days shopping. We managed to purchase our CNY clothings in a comfortable pace and in some peace. Cos Mom helped us take care of lil one. We really enjoyed the time together just browsing around in the mall, having a simple breakfast at Kim Gary (I used to crave for thier egg & ham sandwhich every single morning when I was preggie :-) and even went for another session of massage!

We also travelled to Tangkak, Johor for my cousin's wedding. We stopped by Jonker's Street for some chicken rice ball lunch with my uncle & aunts. It was a short trip but just nice for us & lil one as any longer trip would have been too taxing on us! You know right ... my lil one is super-active every single minute of the day ...

So now, I am back to the grinding stone! But hey, CNY is around the corner! And I plan to be on long leave again ...at least for 10 days ... hurray!

Why no updates geh?

Ha! Ha! Ha! Been MIA for a couple of days already. Not too lazy to blog but just no time to blog! Wah .. sound like I'm super busy huh ... but actually I am super free .... hee hee.

I'm on long annual leave ... till next year ... hurray! Well, I had to clear my 2008 annual leave and this is the first time this year that I am am on a real holiday away from the office! I am not on a "holiday" per se ... but just on leave and loitering around town ... but dont worry, I am not painting it RED :-)

So far, I have spent some time shopping for the house and also on some new clothing for the lil one for the upcoming CNY. The next day, I spend a couple of hours at the hair saloon ...which I only visit twice a year! Hubby went for his favourite past time while I was spending the few hours stuck on the chair at the saloon ... watch a movie lor .. what else. And today, we took lil one for a swim at KLCC Park .... which our dear friend refused to leave!

I must say we found some real good bargains while shopping for clothings especially for mens' clothing. Metrojaya, Parkson & even Jusco had real good bargains for quality & branded clothings for mens' casual, work attire as well as sports attire. Hubby found his CNY clothings (which were new season designs) at a whopping 70% discount! It was a special weekend bargain sale which we spotted while at Mid Valley *happy wide smile*.

Tomorrow, our plan is to take lil one to his first ever visit to our National Zoo. Then in the afternoon, we will visit a warehouse sale for kitchen goods at Puchong. I am still undecided on a hood & hob brand ... but wish to get a real good deal at this warehouse sale. So wish me luck!

Free Party worth RM15,000!

Doesn't the word FREE make you read the headlines again! It did that to me!

I had no idea that F&N was having such a contest until I surfed into Nuffnang (you know them right, the people who were kind enough to throw the Friso Family Day Out Party)! And being the ever kind hearted Nuffnang, they requested for people like us (meaning Bloggers lah) to help out 2 other bloggers who are participating in this FREE party contest!

So you think I helped them or not? Sure I have to help lah ... cos Nuffnang ask one wor .... must help, cannot say cannot help .. hehehe.

You can see how committed these 2 young people were at hoping to win the FREE PARTY! Huai Bin & Pam - I salute you lah!

Young means young lah .. have all the energy on earth to pursue what they want - and all the want is to WIN! Go for it guys! Wish you all the luck!

Of course - given a chance, I also want to win a FREE PARTY .. but timing not right now. Even if I really win also no house to host it yet! Cos as you know, I am currently waiting for the darn day to arrive where the developer would call me to come over and collect the keys to my dream home. And then there is renovation. And then the furniture and all the stuff to buy to fill up the house, else no chair to sit, no bed to sleep and no TV .. so how to host party right???

But before all that, I need some advice ... I mean FREE ADVICE .. on interior designing .. and even best still .... free furniture, free TV, free bed, free dining table set, free sofa set, free aircond, free refrigerator, free kitchen cabinets, free .. free ... I think I am going crazy over this free thingy. I better stop now.

Nice evening with hubby

Last Friday, hubby was on leave as he had quite a bit of annual leave left for the year. Coincidentally, hubby received 2 complimentary tickets for 007! Premier class some more! I know we are a bit late in enjoying this movie cos I think by now, almost 99% of the movie-goers would have seen this already!

Nevertheless, we decided to ask mom for help to take care of lil one for an extra 2 hours while we hurriedly drove past town into The Gardens, Mid Valley where the cinema was located.

We arrived an hour early, so that gave us some time to have a nice, slow dinner. We decided to try out Fong Lye (which serves Taiwanese food) and boy, was it a good choice! I loved the chicken dish with rice that I ordered and hubby tried the seafood noodles which was pretty good too! It feels like ages we had a proper sit down dinner, just the 2 of us, and a decent conversation.

We had sometime to window shop and then headed to the cinema.

The movie was almost 2 hours .. and I was fidgeting in my seat, turning right and then turning left, and right again. Hubby asked if I felt bored, I told him - no. Just that it has been sooooo long that I had the luxury of time to myself and I felt a little weird not having to rush for something or raise my voice or run after the lil one *lol* I told hubby that I have indeed forgotten how to relax. Sad huh?

Do not pump petrol till full tank!

I do not know how true this is but I always pump my tank full every time I need to refill my gas ...

A friend of mine sent me a forwarded email saying that many of us are unware that petrol pumps have a return pipe-line. Meaning, when the petrol tank in our car reaches full level, there is a mechanism to trigger off the pump latch and at the same time, the return valve (at the top of the petrol station) is opened to allow access petrol to flow back into the sump. But the return petrol has already passed through the meter, meaning we are donating back the petrol to the station!

Do you think I should take this seriously or it is just another hoax??? Anybody's wife/husband/son/daughter/relative working in any oil & gas companies that care to shed some light?

Gas cylinder expiry date

In Malaysia, gas cylinders are widely used in homes or even in restaurants & cafes. For me, I have 2 units at home, one as a back-up in case the other runs empty and the delivery man is unable to deliver on time to top up my supply.

Recently, someone told me that these cylinders have an expiry date and we should all learn how to read them.

They are usually coded in A, B, C or D and followed by 2 digits. Meaning if its coded A10, meaning it should expire in the first quarter of 2010. If it reads D13, it should expire in the 4th quarter of 2013.

Another hoax? Cant see any labels in my cylinders at home leh ...
