It was report card day last week so I decided to bake some simple cupcakes for Bryan's teachers. Bryan has been enjoying school for the past year and a half and I am simply proud of him & proud of the teachers for all their dedication to ensure that my son has a fun & enjoyable learning experience. Thus far, Bryan really does enjoy school & loves to have his friends play with him.
I am a FTWM with a wonderful and supporting husband and a lovely, happy toddler with his ever-lasting energy. This blog is all about my journey as a home based baker & mommie as well as our family's happenings especially now that we have our very own family and home.

Wedding Cupcakes
Romantic pink wedding cuppies for a friend of my sister-in-law.
Had the pleasure to bake for 2 separate pre-wedding dinners. Choice was vanilla butter (which is always my recommendation for cupcakes, which makes it a simple & pleasant flavour for such a mini piece of cake) and its good since we normally consume cupcakes as dessert (after dinner). In my opinion, cupcakes should never be heavy (like rich chocolate).
Fondant looks great but does not taste as good as buttericing. So I try to decorate it with minimal fondant as it holds well and looks good as a decorating item whilst balancing it with buttericing which taste good but cant do much shapes due to its liquidity.
Purple themed cupcakes for a chinese wedding.

Disney Junior - A New Channel Brand!
I was very very pleased to be invited to the dinner hosted by Disney Junior on 1 June 2011, who has cordially invited their Senior Vice President for Original Programming & General Manager for Disney Junior Worldwide, Ms Nancy Kanter!
Reason being, at age 4 now, Bryan is really getting a bit bored of Playhouse Disney and I was very very excited to see what they lined up in Disney Junior. Even his grandma can tell me that she is quite bored with Playhouse Disney (cos you see, Bryan insist that grandma sits next to him while he watches his favourite cartoon shows .. hahaha).
Having spent an evening there, I am very excited to share with you what's in store for your prince & princess come July 2011 *wink*
Disney Junior, a new channel brand will replace Playhouse Disney on Astro Channel 613 on 11 July 2011. However, please be rest assured that some of our favourites will be maintained! They include Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent OSO, Imagination Movers, Jungle Junction, Little Einstein & World World (hope I remember them correctly!). And the best part is, they will be showing all new series and no more the repeats of what we have been watching for the past few months/years! Hurray! At least Bryan will keep quite for a few more episodes rather than force us to accompany him to play badminton .. wuah .. tired leh.
What's the difference b/w Disney Junior & Playhouse Disney?
Disney Junior will have a bigger focus on the storytelling element (isn't that nice!!) to bring across a more engaging viewing experience for kids & parents. There will also be more family-favourite movies from Walt Disney Pictures & Pixar Animation Studios. With the new programming, Disney Junior will not only appeal to preschoolers 2-5 yrs but also to older kids 6-7 years, and their parents. Now grandma will be very pleased to hear this! And daddie will have more rest during the weekends since we will have less running around in the house .. hehehehe.
What kind of new programs are expected on Disney Junior, you may ask. Then let me introduce you to some of those that we think will be all-time favourites!
Jake and the Neverland Pirates (first & exclusive on Disney Junior)
Join Jake (the captain) and pals Izzy & Cubby, as they set off on adventures to find hidden treasures, while trying to outsmart a very naughty Captain Hook and Smee who were made famous from the classic, Peter Pan! This series teaches little ones about teamwork, problem-solving and physical activity.
Cat in the Hats Knows a Lot About That!
This is another charming new animated series starring Dr Seuss's beloved Cat in the Hat. This series is about everyday things that concern young children such as playing, being friendly, spending time with the family and finding out all about the world and how it works.
Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue!
What would you do if you met a fairy? Witness the historic moment when Tinker Bell first meets a human being and its NOT who you think ... !!
To be premiered in the Not-Too-Distant-Future!
I was very pleased to hear that they have a new series called Disney Poetry Shorts. These are short peotry telling in its all-natural way on how poetries are meant to be told! You all know, in Asia, peotry or even story telling is not our forte and with this, even I would enjoy listening to them! And we were told that famous stars like Vanessa Williams are the story tellers, amongst a few more. Can't wait!
Other new offerings are Minnie Bow-Toons, a spin-off from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (and yes, she deserves a series of her own!) where Minnie plays a variety of different roles, from party planner to tour guide & beyond ... nice!
Line ups for 2012 includes Doc McStuffins, who heals stuffed animals and toys in her backyard clinic ; 7D, short form animation based on original Seven Dwarfs and Oki's Oasis, the first Western-themed amination for pre-schoolers.
Now do you understand why I'm so freakin' excited? Maybe I'll bake a batch of cupcakes over that weekend and enjoy it with the boys while we glue ourselves to 613 on July 11 .. yeehaa!
